The seat

We are the outsourced marketing department for a dozen UK restaurant brands, from single sites to six-restaurant groups. Behind the content sits Slate, our own operating platform. This seat owns the accounts day to day: every client knows what is coming, every promise has an owner and a date, and nothing reaches a client that we have not checked.

What the work actually is

Eight things that came through this seat in the last month. Client names and links removed, nothing else changed. If most of these read as a good day rather than a bad one, apply.

  1. 1Three videos went into a client's approval hub and the message telling them never went out. Two days later they auto-approved and one published. Be the person whose clients always know what is waiting and when it goes.
  2. 2A shoot is booked for Thursday in Edinburgh. Sort the crew's trains and hotel, confirm the concepts and the cast with the Creative Director, and send the client a plan for the day they can forward to their team.
  3. 3A client's posting schedule has two gaps next week because a shoot moved. Work out what can fill them from footage we already hold, and tell the client before they notice.
  4. 4A six-restaurant group launches a new offer in ten days. Turn it into a campaign plan with the Creative Director and the Operations Lead: what gets made, by whom, by when, and what we need from the client by Friday.
  5. 5A client added a new priority on Monday. Re-order their task list, show them what moved back and why, and make sure the team is working on the right thing by lunchtime.
  6. 6An owner sends a voice note at 9pm unhappy with a caption. Find out which rule it broke, fix it, and make sure the rule is written down so it never comes back.
  7. 7A new client still owes us their access form, brand profile and ad account three weeks after signing. Get them in without becoming the person who only ever messages to chase.
  8. 8A renewal is six weeks out. Build the case: what we delivered, what moved, and what has been blocked on their side, so the founder walks into that call with it already done.

The core role

  • Own a portfolio of restaurant clients day to day: the relationship, the month ahead and everything we have promised them.
  • Run the project from signing to posting: shoot dates, creative planning with the Creative Director, edits, approvals, scheduling and reporting.
  • Be the first person a client calls, and the reason the founder does not have to be.
  • Keep every client's task list moving and visible, with honest time frames and a clear view of what is waiting on them.

What you'll do

  • A short weekly check-in with every client, and a Monday status on every account: on track, at risk, or blocked, and why.
  • Plan shoots with the Creative Director: concepts, casting, travel and accommodation for the crew, and the shot list.
  • Manage campaigns from brief to go-live: what is owed, by whom and by when, and chase anything waiting on the client.
  • Own the approval loop: make sure every client knows content is waiting for them, knows the 48-hour window, and says yes or asks for changes in time.
  • Keep the posting schedule full on each client's cadence, and step in with a plan when a shoot moves or content runs short.
  • Handle the hard conversations: a missed post, a complaint, a renewal, with the facts ready before you pick up the phone.

How we work

  • Full time, hours flexible around UK hospitality, with the odd early start or late finish around shoots.
  • Hybrid: remote by default, on the road to clients across the UK when it matters, with travel and stays paid.
  • You work alongside the Creative Director, the Senior Marketing Operations Lead and the lead editor every day.
  • Trusted with the client relationship early. We would rather you picked up the phone than waited to be told.

Inside the setup

  • Slate · our own platform (Next.js, Supabase) running scheduling, tasks, client portals, campaigns and finance
  • Frame.io for content review, Buffer for publishing, ManyChat for DM automations, Meta Business Suite, Google Workspace, WhatsApp groups with every client
  • AI in daily production: Claude and agents across operations, captions, research and campaign builds
  • Small senior team: founder, Creative Director, Senior Marketing Operations Lead, lead editor and a freelance editing team

The ideal person

  • Three or more years as an account manager or account executive at a marketing, social or creative agency, ideally with hospitality or consumer brands.
  • Organised to the point of calm: you keep ten plates spinning and still know exactly what is due this week.
  • A creative eye: you can sit with a Creative Director and have ideas worth using, not just take notes.
  • Comfortable being the client's first call, including when the news is bad.
  • UK based, with the right to work here and a driving licence or happy to travel by train.

Read this bit twice

We would rather you closed this tab than spent twenty minutes on the form and a fortnight finding out. This seat is not for you if:

  • You want a strategy-deck seat. Our software does the reporting and the founder sets direction · this is owning the accounts and being the person clients message.
  • You would rather not travel. Shoot days and client visits across the UK are part of the job.
  • You need every client message checked before you send it. You will be trusted with the relationship early.
  • You tell people something is done because you finished it, rather than because you watched it work.
  • You would rather send a careful email than pick up the phone when something has gone wrong.
  • You are not based in the UK, or you do not have the right to work here.

How hiring runs here

  1. 1

    Apply

This form. Fifteen minutes · the more specific you are, the easier it is for us to review your application.

  2. 2

    We read it properly

Every application gets read by a human. We will respond to you whether successful or not.

  3. 3

    Interview

A conversation with the founder, then a second with the Creative Director and the Senior Marketing Operations Lead · the two people you would work alongside every day.

  4. 4

    Paid trial

One to two weeks on real client work, paid. You do the actual job and we both decide from there.

You are the reason every client feels looked after and every promise gets kept. When it works, clients know what is coming, the team knows what to build next, and the founder is out of the day to day.

The facts we filter on first

Money, geography and availability up front. If we are not in the same range we would both rather know now than after a call.

Optional · a date helps us plan.
Give us the salary you would actually accept, and say whether you would rather be on payroll or invoice. We filter against a band before we speak rather than finding out on a call, and we deliberately do not publish it, because we want your figure rather than an echo of ours.
