Marketing Strategist

Marketing & Operations
Freelance · 40h/wk Remote $1,500 USD/month · up to $1,700–$2,000 for senior candidates

We're looking for a highly organised, detail-oriented Marketing Assistant to support the delivery of social media content for restaurant and hospitality brands. This is not a 'post on Instagram and make Canva graphics' role. We are a fast growing company who create high-performing short-form content designed to drive real business results for restaurants, and our clients expect a high standard. Think professional video, cutting edge trends, and the kind of content you see from your favourite global brands. Priorities move quickly, so we're looking for people who stay calm under pressure, solve problems proactively and care as much about high standards as we do. You'll play a key role in making sure content is planned, written, organised and published accurately and on time without needing reminders. You'll work closely with our Creative Director and wider team to help turn content ideas, viral trends and research into structured campaigns that perform. We care far more about skill, ownership and reliability than corporate experience.

The core role

  • Support the delivery of social media content for restaurant and hospitality brands
  • Make sure content is planned, written, organised and published accurately and on time, without reminders
  • Work closely with the Creative Director to turn ideas, viral trends and research into structured campaigns
  • Manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously without dropping the ball

What you'll do

  • Support the planning, organisation and execution of campaigns
  • Support the Creative Director with concepts and execution planning
  • Research industry trends, viral formats and competitor content to put forward opportunities for clients
  • Write captions using proven frameworks and adapting tone of voice for different brands
  • Handle varied requests from multiple clients in WhatsApp
  • Schedule and post content across multiple social platforms for multiple clients, accurately
  • Manage a large volume of content assets and workflows
  • Ensure deadlines and posting schedules are consistently met
  • Escalate inefficiencies before they become problems
  • Improve campaign performance through content, trend and audience analysis
  • Manage multiple projects and clients simultaneously

Working style

  • Remote, full-time (40 hrs/week) as an independent contractor
  • South Africa or LATAM (Brazil / Colombia) preferred — natural overlap with UK hours
  • Not 9–5: responsiveness matters more than fixed desk hours, especially during shoot weeks
  • Weekly kickoff + check-in calls with the Founder and Creative Director
  • Direct independent contractor relationship (paid via Wise or Multiplier)

What good looks like

  • Content is consistently posted to a high quality, accurately and on time
  • The team operates more efficiently because of your organisation
  • Creative ideas are researched, prepared and presented proactively
  • Clients experience a fast, smooth and professional service
  • You join a creative team with exciting plans for growth over the next 12 months who truly care about creating content that transforms businesses

The ideal person

  • Minimum 3 years experience in social media, content creation or digital marketing
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creative campaigns or content work
  • Excellent understanding of social media platforms and trends beyond just aesthetics
  • Strong visual eye and aesthetic judgement
  • Proactive and takes ownership of tasks
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organised and dependable with a strong eye for detail
  • Understands that client-facing content is high stakes and mistakes impact real businesses
  • Bonus: self-starter who has worked in an agency or fast-moving startup
  • Bonus: experience with hospitality or restaurant brands
  • Bonus: passionate about social media, branding and creative marketing
  • Bonus: understands short-form video trends and content psychology
  • Bonus: experienced using marketing systems and software like scheduling platforms, CRMs or AI
  • Bonus: advanced understanding of performance metrics and analytics

Not the right fit if you regularly miss small errors, struggle with deadlines, need constant direction, or want a purely creative role with no operational responsibility. Right fit if you take ownership, sweat the details, and want to grow with the agency.
